The National Organic Agriculture Program together with the National Technical Search Committee visited the Umanika Eco-Cultural Farm of Green Minds, Inc. on August 29, 2017 at Impalambong, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon for the conduct of a field validation for the shortlisted nominees for the 2017 National Organic Agriculture Achievers’ Awards (NOAAA). Belonging to the farmer’s group category, they are one among the four finalists of the said search from Northern Mindanao (region 10). As its entry, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) has chosen Umanika of Green Minds, Inc. for actively supporting OA through developing a farm that integrates indigenous knowledge and systems with modern agricultural technologies. Should they be declared as the national winner, the farmer’s group will receive a project grant amounting to Php100,000. Other finalists up for evaluation are Necifin Caga-anan (provincial focal person) of the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental (MisOcc), Elizabeth A. Talam (municipal focal person) and Virginia C. Namocatcat (agricultural extension worker), both from Plaridel, MisOcc.
