Aggie NorMin empowers youth thru Summer Internship Program

Cagayan de Oro City – The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) honored 10 student interns during the culmination program of its Summer Youth Internship Program (SYIP) held on August 29, at the agency compound.

The interns, aged 18-25 years old, completed their two-month stint from May 26 to July 28, where they were assigned to the different operating units, including the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance, Research, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Administrative and Finance divisions. They worked for eight regular office hours from Monday to Friday and received a daily wage of PhP461.00.

DA-10 Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulations Cora A. Dumayaca commended the interns for their hard work and commitment, encouraging to bring along with them the knowledge and values they have gained from the program.

Meanwhile, Joseph Andrie L. Caseñas expressed his gratitude for the experience, sharing that it has widened his perspective.

“This experience gave me a different appreciation of how our government works to serve the public and ensure that food remains accessible,” he added.

In line with EO No. 139, Series of 1993, which created the Kabataan: 2000 year-round youth work program, the DA implements the SYIP as part of its commitment as a committee member. The work immersion offers students with practical experience, deepens their understanding of the agricultural sector, provides financial aid for their education, and fosters a sense of public service.# (AMBM)
