DA-10 strengthens corn ventures of Damulog town coop with new hauling truck

DAMULOG, BUKIDNON – In a move to bolster the corn value chain of the province, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10) turned over a 5-metric ton hauling truck to the Migcawayan Tribal Agriculture Cooperative (MTAC) on August 29, in this town.

The PhP2.57 million truck was funded through the DA-10 Corn Program under the Agricultural Machinery, Equipment, Facilities, and Infrastructure Support Services (AMEFSS). It is expected to significantly boost the cooperative’s operations from production, processing, trading, marketing, and consolidation.

MTAC, composed of 370 members, cultivating 300 hectares, is eyed to benefit from the added logistics.

MTAC General Manager Jaycer T. Micabalo expressed his appreciation for the government’s support.

“This will greatly help us in hauling our corn products from the farm to the market,” Micabalo said.

“We promise to take good care of this intervention and ensure that it will only be utilized for activities that advances MTAC’s corn initiatives, as well as other productive endeavors that contribute to our cooperative’s progress,” he added.

The intervention also supports the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to achieve a food-secure Philippines by boosting local agriculture production through the development of efficient logistics systems both for input and production output. #(CRS)
