Agri-10 hands over Php278-M agri interventions to Bukidnon farmers, LGUs

 

MALAYBALAY CITY, BUKIDNON – Reinforcing its commitment to advance agricultural sustainability and rural development in Northern Mindanao, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10) turned over Php278.1 million worth of agricultural interventions to Salvacion Multipurpose Cooperative (SMC), Bukidnon Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU), and the City Local Government Unit (CLGU) of Malaybalay.

In a turnover ceremony during the DA’s National Information Caravan on September 9, the SMC of Kadingilan, Bukidnon, received one hauling truck worth Php2,625 million under the Corn Program.

On the other hand, Bukidnon PLGU was awarded certificate of commitment for 32,587 bags of hybrid rice seeds worth Php156 million, 65,740 bags of inorganic fertilizer valued at Php82 million, 52,419 packs of biofertilizers amounting to Php38 million through the Rice Program.

Under the High Value Crops Development Program, Malaybalay CLGU received certificate of commitment for the Gulayan sa Bayan package worth Php100K.

With said interventions, the DA-10 seeks to modernize and industrialize the region’s agricultural value chain to promote a sustainable food system by boosting farmers’ productivity and create more livelihood opportunity in their communities.

Tarsila H. Bunayog, SMC Manager, acknowledges the impact of DA’s constant and transformative support. “From post-harvest facilities, tractors, and harvesters, to this hauling truck. These interventions greatly benefit not only our members but also the wider community of Kadingilan,” she said.

For his part, Vic Ian T. Alcontin Malaybalay City Agriculturre Office Field Operations Head, noted that the Gulayan sa Bayan complements the city’s existing backyard gardening projects. “We thank the DA for its support. This ensures the continuity of our efforts to provide food security and livelihood opportunities for our farmers and households” he said.
