Aggie NorMin boosts mushroom prod’n with inputs, training

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Aiming to strengthen the local mushroom industry, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10), through its National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program (NUPAP), in collaboration with the Agricultural Productivity Operations Office (APOO) of Cagayan de Oro, has ramped up support for community-level mushroom production.

As part of the initiative, the agency distributed 3,000 mushroom fruiting bags on September 13 to residents from barangays Carmen, Bugo, Macasandig, Tablon, Gusa, Lumbia, and Canitoan. To complement the distribution, a two-day training on mushroom production was also conducted on September 30 to October 1, 2025, equipping beneficiaries with the necessary knowledge and skills to properly utilize the inputs and sustain production.

According to NUPAP-10 Focal Person Ronald Allan P. Camaddo, the initiative aims to provide alternative livelihood opportunities for residents, contribute to local food security, and support the continued growth of Cagayan de Oro’s emerging mushroom industry.# (AMBM/Photo credits: APOO-CDO)
