Corn Cluster 2 FA in Baroy town gets a boost in mechanization aid

BAROY, LANAO DEL NORTE — The Corn Cluster 2 Farmers Association (CC2 FA), composed of 332 members from 11 barangays in this town, received a PhP2.9-million four-wheel drive farm tractor from the Department of Agriculture – Northern Mindanao (DA-NorMin), through its Corn Program, to boost corn production and support farm mechanization.

The machinery was turned over on November 8 in barangay Maliwanag, led by Engr. Abdulharis P. Paporo, Provincial Operations Chief of Lanao del Norte of DA-10, to Baroy Mayor Rosa D. Olafsson, and was finally received by CC2 FA Chairperson Rowena T. Almerol.

Pooled from the Corn Program Funds under the Agricultural Machinery, Equipment, Facilities and Infrastructure Program (AMEFSS), the project includes a disc harrow, disc plow, and a five-ton trailer. It will support the association’s 344-hectare corn area, which covers 214 hectares of yellow corn and 130 hectares of white corn.

The intervention aligns with the current administration’s directive to modernize agriculture through the provision of farm machinery, thereby boosting farmers’ efficiency, productivity, and income.#
