NorMin organic farmers’ associations receive PhP1.44-M worth of hauling vehicle

MALAYBALAY CITY, BUKIDNON – To advance modernization and industrialization of agricultural value chains in Northern Mindanao, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA–10), through its Organic Agriculture Program, turned over hauling vehicles worth PhP1.44 million (M) each to Malaybalay City Organic Farmers Association (MACOFA) and the Tatak Organic Kauswagan Farmers Association (TOKFA) of Lanao del Norte, on January 13 at the Northern Mindanao Agricultural Crops and Livestock Research Complex (NMACLRC), Dalwangan, this city.

The said intervention was funded under the Provision of Agricultural Equipment and Facilities as appropriated for the National Organic Agriculture Program (PAEF–NOAP), which supports projects that strengthen organic agriculture through improved production, post-harvest facilities, logistics, market access, and capacity-building for farmers’ organizations.

With a 15-passenger and 1,655kg payload capacity the hauling vehicle is seen to improve transport efficiency, reduce post-harvest losses, enhance organic farm products’ competitiveness, and potentially increase farmers’ income to strengthen agri-based enterprises in the region.

Said initiative also reinforces the President’s commitment to supporting organized farmers and promoting organic agriculture as a sustainable pathway toward food security and rural economic growth in Northern Mindanao. # (MAC)
