Aggie-10 installs RAFC NorMin chair as farmer-director
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (Aggie 10) welcomed – Nilda B. Salas, Northern Mindanao’s Regional Agricultural and Fishery Council (RAFC) chairperson as its Farmer Regional Executive Director (FRED) in observance of the 2026 Farmers’ and Fisherfolk’s Month (FFM).
Aggie-10 Regional Executive Director, Jose Apollo Y. Pacamalan officially installed Salas as the agency’s FRED on May 4.
The FRED Program was launched by the Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries (PCAF) in 2017, primarily to advocate strengthened collaboration between the government and the private sector. The initiative sought to provide farmer-leaders a magnified voice in policymaking, allowing them to play key roles in shaping a participatory environment in agri-fishery development governance.
With extensive grassroots industry experience, Farmer-Directors are deemed credible sources of firsthand insight for improved DA programs implementation at the regional level. During their stint as FRED, Farmer-Directors may recommend policies for better agricultural service delivery to farmers and fishers in their region.
In line with the DA’s Farmer-Director Program, Salas will serve as the Aggie-10’s FRED for the entire month of May. # (NQA)
