Aggie NorMin brings presidential assistance to 3,075 Claveria town farmers

CLAVERIA, Misamis Oriental — The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (Aggie NorMin) continues the rollout of presidential assistance to farmers in Misamis Oriental as it distributed financial aid to 3,075 eligible beneficiaries in the municipality of Claveria, on July 24.

Through the Presidential Assistance for Farmers and Fisherfolk Program (PAFFP), a total of over PhP7.14 million in financial assistance was released during the payout where farmer-beneficiaries received PhP2,325.00 cash assistance to cushion the impact of rising farm production costs.

Highlighting the significance of agriculture in the town, Municipal Mayor Reynante L. Salvaleon underscored the vital role of farmers in ensuring the province’s food security and sustaining the local economy.

“You are the backbone of our local economy, which is why, you deserve significant support and attention. That is why, we are deeply grateful to the DA for the substantial assistance we have received,” Salvaleon said.

Meanwhile, DA-10 Regional Executive Director Jose Apollo Y. Pacamalan encouraged farmers to maximize available agricultural lands and take advantage of the government’s continuing support programs.

“We encourage everyone to make use of all available land suitable for planting. Coordinate with your Municipal Agriculture Office, as there are many forms of support available for farmers, including seeds and fertilizers that can help improve production,” Pacamalan said.

For beneficiaries like Archie J. Gaviola of Brgy. Poblacion, Claveria, the assistance comes at a crucial time as farmers prepare for the cropping season.

“I am very grateful to the DA for including me in this program. It has greatly helped me, especially now that I am planting corn, as I can now buy the fertilizer needed for my crop,” Gaviola shared.

Meanwhile, the continued PAFFP initiative reaffirms the national government’s commitment to supporting the livelihood and welfare of Filipino farmers by providing timely financial assistance to help sustain agricultural production and strengthen food security.

Some 12,195 or 57% of qualified farmers and fishers in Misamis Oriental have received the cash aid since the Aggie NorMin rolled out the PAFFP in May this year.# (AMBM)
