Aggie-NorMin showcases value-adding technologies at Camiguin’s science, techno and innovation week

MAMBAJAO, Camiguin — The Department of Agriculture – Northern Mindanao (Aggie-NorMin), through its Research Division, showcased research-generated value-adding technologies developed into market-ready products during the 2026 Regional Science, Technology and Innovation (RSTI) Week Northern Mindanao sa ISLA (Innovations for Sustainable and Livable Archipelago) from July 22 to 24, highlighting innovations that offer livelihood and agribusiness opportunities for farmers, cooperatives, and entrepreneurs.

Among the value-added products featured were Adlay breakfast cereal (plain and chocolate variants), corn breakfast cereal (plain, chocolate and milk variants), Adlay chocolate chip cookies, and sweet potato red wine.

The agency’s participation also forms part in strengthening its Technology Business Incubation program where it supports the commercialization of research-backed agricultural technologies by building and nurturing partnerships among government agencies, academic institutions, and industry stakeholders to help transform promising innovations into sustainable agribusiness enterprises.

Organized by the Department of Science and Technology, this year’s observance of the RSTI week, held in collaboration with the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology and the Provincial Government of Camiguin, also complemented the technology exhibitions with policy dialogues, science lectures, multi-sectoral forums, and the recognition of outstanding science, technology, and innovation champions.

Carrying the theme, “Science, Technology, and Digital Innovation: Driving Food Security, Sustainable Energy, and National Resilience”, the activity also aligns with the agri department’s vision of “Para sa Masaganang Bagong Pilipinas”, which banks on research, innovation, and digital technologies in strengthening the country’s food systems, promoting sustainable development, and building resilient communities.# (JLO/Photos supplied)
