VALENCIA CITY, BUKIDNON — The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10) took part in the Southeast Asia (SEA) Green Coffee Competition 2026: Philippines National Round held from May 29 to 31 at M. Montesclaros Holdings, Inc., here.

The SEA Green Coffee Competition is an annual event that gathers coffee entries from Southeast Asian countries to showcase regional coffee products and its quality profiles, and foster collaboration, innovation, and industry development among coffee-producing nations.

This year’s national round drew around 100 coffee brewers, growers, processors, and industry stakeholders from different regions across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

As part of its participation, DA-10, through its Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), exhibited various coffee products from farmers’ cooperatives, associations (FCAs) assisted by the agency across Northern Mindanao. It highlighted the region’s coffee industry and served as a platform for participants to learn more about locally produced coffee.

Winning coffee samples will be introduced to the international market through the SEA Green World Tour, where cupping sessions will be conducted for global audiences to experience.

For his part, DA-10 Regional Executive Director Jose Apollo Y. Pacamalan emphasized the significance of the event in advancing the local coffee industry and opening new opportunities for Filipino coffee farmers.

“This is a valuable opportunity for our coffee farmers to showcase the quality and potential of Bukidnon coffee on the international stage. Through initiatives like this, we can create stronger market linkages and provide them with referential options that can help increase farmgate prices,” the agri chief exec said.

Under the “Para sa Masaganang Bagong Pilipinas” vision, the department continues to strengthen the local coffee industry through production support, quality improvement, and market development initiatives targeted at enhancing productivity, quality, and market opportunities for NorMin coffee growers.# (NQA)
