DA-10 continues presidential cash aid rollout in Laguindingan town

LAGUINDINGAN, Misamis Oriental — The Department of Agriculture – Northern Mindanao (DA-10) continued the distribution of cash assistance to farmers and fisherfolk in Misamis Oriental under the Presidential Assistance for Farmers and Fisherfolk Program (PAFFP) during a distribution activity on September 3, here.

A total of 1,191 beneficiaries received PhP2,325.00 each, comprising 1,037 corn farmers duly registered under the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) and 154 fisherfolk registered under the BoatR.

The assistance forms part of the national government’s continuing interventions to help cushion the impact of rising production costs and provide support to food producers whose livelihoods remain vulnerable to fluctuations in farm productivity and market conditions.

Among the beneficiaries was corn farmer Luzvilla Borres of Purok 3, Brgy. Gasi, Laguindingan, who expressed gratitude for the assistance, particularly as she faced challenges brought about by the outcome of her recent crop production.

“Nagpasalamat pod ko sa DA, nga karon panahona nakadawat mi. Wala gyud ko nag dahom nga ma apil [ko]. Hinaot pa unta na magpadayon ang inyong paghatag og ayuda dinhi sa poblacion sa Laguindingan. Daghan kaayong salamat sa inyong tanan,” Borres said.

The PAFFP is among the government’s support mechanisms aimed at extending immediate assistance to qualified farmers and fisherfolk while strengthening their capacity to sustain their farming and fishing activities.

Through its continued partnership with the different local government units, DA-10 is working to facilitate the delivery of agricultural programs and ensure that government assistance reaches the grassroots level.
