DA-10 intensifies rice price monitoring in CdeO markets

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) continues its monitoring and compliance inspections in markets, earlier today, June 2, here.

Spearheaded by the DA-10 Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), in collaboration with the DA-Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI), City Economic Enterprises and Business Development Administration (CEEBDA), and the Philippine National Police (PNP), the monitoring team visited Cogon and Carmen markets, as well as rice retail outlets in barangays Kauswagan and Bulua.

The initiative aims to ensure adherence to Executive Order No. 118, Series of 2026 which mandates a maximum retail price of ₱50.00 per kilogram for imported premium rice with 5% broken grains to protect consumers from excessive rice prices while promoting fair and stable pricing practices among rice retailers.

In addition to the inspections, the team distributed information, education and communication (IEC) materials to retailers to raise awareness of the provisions of EO 118, and Joint Memorandum Circular No. 1, Series of 2026 issued by DA and DTI, otherwise known as the guidelines on the prescribed labeling for rice, including the use of a blue background color on price tags for imported rice.# (AMBM)
