DA-10 turns over veggie seeds to LGU Oro for urban agriculture

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – As part of its urban agriculture initiatives, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10), through its National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program (NUPAP), provided assorted vegetable seeds to the City Local Government Unit of Cagayan de Oro on September 24.

Around 400 packets of 5-in-1 Pinakbet seeds and 500 packets of 5-in-1 Sinigang seeds, with a total worth of PhP54.7K, were turned over by Field Operations Division Chief Engr. Junel W. Ablanque along with NUPAP staff to representatives of the Agricultural Productivity Operations Office (APOO) Agronomy Division headed by Neil Vincent Cabacungan.

Cabacungan shared that the support will help them promote vegetable production among communities in the city.

“Thank you very much to the DA for the seeds. These will be a great help to our farmers, especially in improving their nutrition and providing additional income,” he said.

The vegetable seeds assistance forms part of DA-RFO 10’s continuing efforts under NUPAP to promote urban agriculture and support local food production through access to vegetable planting materials.# (AMBM)
