Macaopao FA seen to improve farm productivity, logistics with DA-10’s mechanization aid

KALILANGAN, BUKIDNON — The Macaopao Grain Farmers’ Association (MGFA) is poised to improve the mechanization of their 270 hectares aggregate corn, cassava, and sugarcane production areas with the newly turned over 90-horsepower farm tractor unit from the Department of Agriculture – Northern Mindanao (DA-10).

The agency formally conferred the PhP2.9-million machinery on October 21, in Sitio Agaton, Brgy. Macaopao, this town.

Equipped with complete implements – disc plow and harrow, and a built-in trailer with a 5-ton transport capacity, the unit is expected to alleviate manual labor, ease land preparation, and improve farm logistics of the 159 members of the association.

MGFA Chairperson Emily Caturay, acknowledged the potential of the DA’s mechanization assistance to better their livelihood.

“Dako kaayo among pasalamat sa DA-10 sa pagtugyan kanamo niining tractor. Dako kay’ni nga tabang sa amoa kay mapadali na niini ang among pagpreparar sa yuta ug dili na dali madaot ang among produkto kay mapadali naman ang pagkuha sa among mga harvest gamit ang trailer”, the farmer-leader said.

(We are grateful to DA-10 for turning over this tractor to us. This is a huge help because it will speed up our land preparation, and prevent our harvest from spoiling fast since we can now easily haul our harvests using the trailer.)

Funded under the agency’s Corn Program through its Agriculture Machinery, Equipment, and Facilities Support Services (AMEFSS), the distribution of cutting-edge farm machinery supports the directive of the current administration to empower farmers and augment their production through mechanization. # (BJCE/Photos supplied)
