NorMin’s Irrigators association earns national recognition at 51st Gawad Saka Awards

 

PASAY CITY – Demonstrating excellence in rice production and irrigation management, the San Martin North Main Canal Irrigators Association, Inc. of Malaybalay City, Bukidnon put Region 10 in pedestal after being recognized as one of the country’s Outstanding Rice Clusters during the 51st Gawad Saka Awarding Ceremony held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) on Monday, June 29.

Conferred by the Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI), the association was recognized as an Outstanding Rice Cluster – Irrigators’ Association under the National Irrigation System (NIS) Crop Category.

The association was among the 37 national standouts from more than 90 finalists competing across seven major categories: Crops, Livestock, Fisheries, Institutions, Agricultural Extension Manager and LGU Agricultural Extension Worker, Youth, and Cross-Cutting.

This award highlights the association’s commendable efforts in promoting efficient irrigation management, enhancing rice productivity, and contributing to the government’s food security goal by fostering sustainable agricultural development.

The Gawad Saka Awards serves as the DA’s prestigious annual recognition program honoring individuals, groups, and institutions that have made significant contributions to the advancement of the country’s agriculture and fisheries sectors.

Under the “Para sa Masaganang Bagong Pilipinas” vision, the DA continues to recognize and strengthen the efforts of farming communities by promoting the adoption of best agricultural practices, improving farm productivity, and supporting initiatives for sustained growth of the country’s agriculture sector. #(NQA)
