R-10 FCAs learn proper handling of agri products during the recently conducted capabuild on prod’n., postharvest handling and marketing strategies.

 

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) through its Farm and Fisheries Clustering and Consolidation (F2C2) Program spearheaded a three-day Training on Production, Postharvest Handling and Marketing Strategies starting August 1, 2022.

DA-10 Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado said the activity aims to equip the farmers and fisherfolk regionwide on the proper handling of agricultural products during harvest, postharvest up to the marketing of said products.

F2C2 Focal Person Gay Nanette R. Aleria also emphasized that the activity will serve as a venue for the farmer- and fisher-beneficiaries to learn basic farm recordkeeping and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), among others which are eyed to be cascaded to their respective communities in order to boost their productivity and income.

Regional Technical Director Carlota S. Madriaga cited that the F2C2 program targets to enable the agriculture and fishery sector to attain economies of scale, and thus, achieve cost-efficient production, harvest, processing, and marketing operations, subsequently increasing their incomes.

Also presented during the activity were the programs and services under DA’s attached bureaus and agencies, such as the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech); Agricultural Training Institute (ATI); and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).# (Edgar M.
