DA-CO visits one of the mushroom house projects implemented in Region 10.

 

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The High Value Crops Development program (HVCDP) of the Department of Agriculture – Central Office (DA-CO) conducted a monitoring of the physical accomplishments and impact assessment of its regional counterpart on August 15-19, 2022.

According to Agriculturist II Ronald Allan P. Camaddo of DA-Regional Field Office 10 (RFO 10), the activity will determine the progress and effectiveness of the programs, projects and services implemented by DA-HVCDP in Northern Mindanao, possibly noting the commendable practices employed in managing, at the same time exploring the necessary steps to maximize the different agri assistance.

Project sites visited include the Monolithic Dome (Kauswagan) and Mushroom House (Balubal and Kauswagan National Highschool) of CdeO City; Smart Greenhouse (Northern Mindanao Agricultural Crops and Livestock Research Complex, Dalwangan, Malaybalay City); Vegetable seeds, plastic crates, water drums and A-net (Lantapan Vegetable Farmers Marketing Cooperative) as well as the Coffee Community-Based Development Enterprise Project, Nursery and Multi-Commodity Solar Dryer (Bayanihan Millennium Multipurpose Cooperative, Pangantucan), all in Bukidnon province.

Also covered are those projects in Misamis Occidental, which includes the following: Spring development establishment, Upland vegetable production and plastic crates in Don Victoriano town; Bayanihan II Urban Agriculture Program (City Government of Oroquieta), Spring development establishment and Cacao under Coconut project (Jimenez Cacao Growers), and Farm tractor and Nursery establishment (City Government of Jimenez).

DA-CO HVCDP Project Development Officer IV Jose Jeffrey D. Rodriguez further noted, the activity will give the agency a deeper understanding on the next courses of action, as these will also help the Program in aligning and implementing its plans and projects in the succeeding years.

One of the Program’s beneficiaries, Porferio S. Sayson, Bayanihan Millennium Multipurpose Cooperative chairman shared, that the projects have been beneficial to their group, especially the Indigenous People (IP) in their community.

“Nang dahil sa tulong ng DA, napakalaki ang pinagbago ng aming pamumuhay lalo na sa pagpoproseso ng aming kape na siyang dahilan kung bakit tumaas ang aming kita at kalidad ng aming kape. Sana ay maging mas matagumpay pa ang nasimulan namin at nang mapatuloy pa namin ang paglilingkod sa aming komunidad, lalo na sa aming mga miyembro na IP.”

HVCDP is one of the banner programs of DA mandated to contribute for the attainment of food sufficiency, economic growth, livelihood opportunities among small producers, and enhancement of consumers’ health and welfare.
