OIC-RED delos Reyes urges the Research division and RCPMC to pursue innovative researches to help increase the yield of R-10 farmers.

 

In line with the government’s thrust to up production of local agricultural commodities, DA-10 OIC-Regional Executive Director, Milo D. delos Reyes urged the research and crop pest management center to pursue innovative researches to help Northern Mindanao’s farmers in increasing their yield.

In his recent visit to the Northern Mindanao Agricultural Crops and Livestock Research Complex (NMACLRC) and the Regional Crop Pest Management Center (RCPMC) in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, Dir. delos Reyes called on the agency’s researchers to develop innovative agricultural technologies that would help farmers in their pre-production, production, and post-production activities.

“In our researches, we must start with the end – with the market. We must must see to it that the products we are developing have ready market,” he said.

He also told the agency’s research team to focus on rice and corn, being the country’s prime crop commodities, noting the region’s resources and potentials.

Similarly, he directed the RCPMC to rev up their data analytics to strategically institute mitigating measures in preempting and controlling pest infestation in the region’s key agri production zones.

DA-10 consultant for Operations and Planning, Joel S. Rudinas added that the research team must employ the Value Chain Approach in their research works to address the farmers’ needs along the whole agricultural value chain.

For his part, DA-10 Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulations, Audy G. Maagad enjoined the personnel of the research division to work together for the improvement of the agency’s efficiency as a whole.

In his first meeting with the research division and the RCPMC, Dir. delos Reyes was briefed on the agency’s research facilities, staffing of the Research Division and the RCPMC, as well as the ongoing research projects being undertaken by the research centers.# (ATalib)
