DA-10 through its Livestock program spearheads the celebration of the Livestock and Poultry month as per DA SO No. 411, s. of 2021.

 

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) staged its second Livestock and Poultry month celebration at the agency compound on October 27-28, 2022.

DA-10 Field Operations Division chief Luz I. Guzman said the activity carries the theme, “Sa Paghahayupan, May Kinabukasan”, which is celebrated every month of October following DA Special Order No. 411, series of 2021, focusing on recognizing and valuing the efforts of the stakeholders in the livestock and poultry industries.

DA-10 OIC-Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado shared that the agency aims to support more livestock and poultry farmers while also assisting Northern Mindanao in achieving food sufficiency and security.

The two-day activity was filled with presentations such as Rabbit Production from Argie Son of Misamis Oriental Rabbit Raisers and Breeders Association, the African Swine Fever (ASF) status in Region 10, and livestock and poultry accomplishments presented by DA-10 Livestock focal person Jamaica L. Docdoc.

The event was also packed with fun games such as battle of the brain, egg catching, live weight identification, and contests such as balot eating, chicken plucking, cooking of chicken adobo.

These were taken part by DA-10’s Administrative and Finance, Field Operations, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Regional Agricultural Engineering, Integrated Laboratory, Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance, Regulatory and Research divisions, and Office of the Regional Director.
