Rice farmers from the municipality of Lala receive cash aid thru DA-10’s RFFA program.

LALA, LANAO DEL NORTE – The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10) headed by OIC-Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado formally launched the third rollout of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund – Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RCEF-RFFA) Program in the municipality of Lala, Lanao del Norte on December 16, 2022.

Through the RCEF-RFFA program, rice farmers registered in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) tilling two hectares below are qualified recipients of cash assistance with each receiving P5,000.

For the province of Lanao del Norte, DA-10 has allocated a total of P69.6 million for 21 municipalities and city, including some 4,240 eligible rice farmer-beneficiaries for Lala alone.

According to Dir. Collado, the RFFA serves as financial compensation for rice farmers affected by the Rice Tarrification Law enacted in 2019.

In his message, Lala mayor Angel L. Yap thanked DA for the financial assistance extended to the rice farmers in the community.

Meanwhile, Lanao del Norte Vice-Governor Allan J. Lim enjoined the farmers of the community to utilize the cash assistance for their farming operations, especially since Lala is among the province’s top rice producers.

The implementation of the rollout was in partnership with the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) and the Universal Storefront Services, Corp. (USSC).# (GDAndres)
