NorMin’s DA and ATI conduct a workshop for the crafting of the CPAFEP.
MAHINOG, CAMIGUIN – The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10), together with the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center 10 (ATI-RTC 10), conducted a three-day workshop for the crafting of the Collaborative Provincial Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Program (CPAFEP) for the province of Camiguin.
On December 14, around 32 participants comprising of Local Government Units (LGUs), Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs), and other stakeholders coming from the five towns of Camiguin convened to map out various programs and other related support services in agriculture and fisheries at the grassroots level.
According to DA-10 OIC-Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado, PAFES aims to establish a pluralistic extension system that will enhance LGUs’ capacities in delivering strategic agri-fishery interventions in their respective localities under CPAFEP.
With the establishment of the Province-led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension System (PAFES), the province of Camiguin will serve as the center for operations, organizing and co-funding Provincial Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Centers (PAFECs), as well as outlining and implementing CPAFEP in the region.
Meanwhile, DA-RFO 10 Consultant Joel S. Rudinas discussed and spearheaded the PAFES orientation along with DA-10 F2C2 focal person Gay Nanette R. Aleria for the Farm and Fisheries Clustering and Consolidation (F2C2) Program of DA.
