DA-10 underscores the role of women in agriculture during the Women’s Month celebration in the month of March.

 

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – To recognize the role of women in agriculture, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) headed by its OIC-Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado culminated the Women’s Month Celebration on March 28, 2023, in this city.

DA-10 Gender and Development Focal Person Berna Rhoda P. Barnido, said the activity had town hall consultations which aimed to offer a forum for discussing the difficulties and effective strategies for advancing gender equality.

No matter how small, we can be a voice in advocating gender equality by being very sensitive to gender issues in our own circle,” shared Department of Agriculture Multi-Purpose Cooperative (DAMPC) chair Juliet B. Araos, in her speech, emphasizing the year’s theme, “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society”.

The theme corresponds with the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028, which emphasizes that growth must be inclusive, creating an environment that offers equal opportunities to all Filipinos and equipping them with skills to fully participate in an innovative and globally competitive economy.

Also sharing their contributions, namely: Regional Outstanding Rural Women awardees Gerlie T. Vedra, Ma. Veronica I. Lastima, Maria Lourdes Abad, and Young Farmers Challenge awardee Daryl Ann M. Gonzales.

Further, a general assembly was conducted for the Department of Agriculture Women Employees’ Association (DAWEA) to give updates on financial status, accomplishments and planning for CY 2023 activities. #(MPMTablon)
