CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) through its Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) spearheaded a cooking demonstration and food tasting activity, in line with the celebration of Filipino Food Month at the agency compound, on April 11, 2023.

DA-10 OIC-Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado said that the activity aims to provide a platform with this year’s theme, “Pagkaing Sariling Atin, Mahalin at Pagyamanin”, to recognize the contribution of local communities, particularly the farmers, fisherfolk, and other sectors involved in food production, to the culinary industry and national food security.

Guest starred by the VIP Hotel head chef, Isidro L. Sobriano, showed his preparations in the making of sinuglaw and pork humba with sweet potato, which highlights Philippine food culture and cuisine.

In which, it aims to highlight preserving and promoting Filipino food as a representation of the country’s history, culture, and identity.

In observance of said celebration, a Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita Trade Fair will also be staged at the agency compound on April 17, where consumers can buy fresh and affordable agricultural commodities from local farmers in Northern Mindanao.

Back in 2018, per Presidential Proclamation No. 469, the month of April was declared Filipino Food Month through the efforts of the Philippine Culinary Heritage Movement.
