Cabanao, RAFC chair is installed as Farmer-Director this Farmers’ and Fisherfolks’ Month this May.

 

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – In observance of the Farmers’ and Fisherfolk’s Month celebration, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) installs Reynaldo M. Cabanao, Regional Agricultural and Fishery Council (RAFC) chairperson as Farmer-Director (FD) for the month of May, in a simple ceremony at the agency compound on May 8, 2023.

DA-10 Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado said that the implementation of the FD program was spearheaded by the Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries (PCAF) in 2017 to increase the collaboration between the public and private sectors for the advancement of the agri-fishery sector.

Across the country, RAFC chairpersons undertake responsibilities of executing and disseminating the department’s primary programs, projects and services as farmer-directors, with their authority limited to non-policy determining activities.

Cabanao serves as a RAFC chair for two years now and in his second term as a farmer-director this month, he aims to strengthen and create an inclusive AFC, establish proactive members, and look for ways to improve partnerships with the stakeholders.
