DA-10 launches the conduct of a corn derby for this wet cropping season in RCHD in Claveria, Misamis Oriental.

 

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) headed by its Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado through its Corn Program administered a ceremonial planting at its Research Center for Hillyland Development (RCHD) in Lanise, Claveria, Misamis Oriental.

On May 18, eight seed companies participated in this year’s wet season corn derby of DA-10 with a total of 15 varieties to showcase their best performing corn varieties in a 1.2-hectare area at the station.

Syngenta Philippines, Inc. entered their NK6505BGT corn variety, Bayer Crop Science Philippines (DK8833S, DK8131S), Bioseed Research Philippines (H101G, B9909G), Asian Hybrid Seed Technologies, Inc. (AH SUPREME 5150, J505), Corteva Agriscience (P3660YHR, P3645YR, P4124YHR), RJR Agro-Industrial Enterprises (MAHARLIKA 315, 44, 8888 White), Evo Gene Seeds, Corp. (EVO 9307) and Vigour Seeds Dev., Inc. with their Maize D30 corn variety.

RED Collado shared that the activity will be a good platform for exhibiting various cultural management techniques and corn variety performance for potential corn farmers’ adoption.

Said activity will also be conducted on May 23 at DA-10’s upland research center in Barongcot, Dangcagan, Bukidnon. #(MPMTablon)
