DA-10 ManCom promotes environmental preservation through the conduct of a tree-growing activity.
DALWANGAN, MALAYBALAY CITY, BUKIDNON – The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10) Management Committee (ManCom) holds its annual tree growing at the Northern Mindanao Agricultural Crops and Livestock Research Complex on October 10 here.
DA-RFO 10 Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado stressed that said activity is one way of bringing the employees to commune with nature, while saving lives and preserving the environment, at the same time.
“For every tree we plant, we are also saving lives while protecting the environment. This is also one way of helping in the attainment of food sufficiency, as we are planting fruit-bearing trees,” he said.
Planted in the area are fruit trees such as jackfruit, mangosteen and rambutan, where it is further eyed to prevent soil erosion in the DA’s research complex and is expected to bear fruits five years from planting. # (MGBS)
