Agri-10 grants P1.5-M for the procurement of a hauling vehicle under its Kadiwa program

 

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – To further provide market development services, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon received a P1.5-million (M) financial grant from the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) through the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) under its Enhanced Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita program.

On October 23, DA-10 Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado handed over the certificate of turnover to Manolo Fortich councilor Raquel Abales-Bayacag, committee chair on agriculture and Elzevir A. Dagunlay, committee chair on farmers at the agency compound.

Director Collado said that the program [Enhanced Kadiwa] will enable farmers’ cooperatives, and associations (FCAs) to participate in the food supply distribution system, which is available and accessible, and to ensure the stability of the prices of food and other basic commodities in areas with high consumer demand.

According to AMAD chief Larry E. Paraluman, said amount was used to procure the P1,693,500 worth of hauling vehicle, while the remaining amount [P193,500.00] was the counterpart by the proponent.

This, he added, will be employed for the enhancement of the operations of their Municipal Food Terminal, which is managed by their women’s federation for the supply and delivery of agricultural products.

On top of the shouldered amount of LGU Manolo Fortich for the transport unit, they have also extended P106,500 as equipment equity for the MFT.

Meanwhile, Gemma G. Cania, LGU Manolo Fortich municipal agriculturist, expressed her gratitude to DA-10 for their unwavering support for the development of the agriculture sector in their locality.

“We are indeed very happy and accept this project, as this will help improve the marketing system of our farmers in Manolo Fortich, and we are hoping for more collaborations and partnerships with DA,” she conveyed.

Furthermore, Dir. Collado urged the beneficiary to maintain the vehicle properly and to ensure that the assigned driver is adequately trained and in possession of a National Certificate II (NC2).

Also present during the turnover are DA-10 Regional Technical Director for Operations Carlota S. Madriaga, RTD for Research and Regulations Cora A. Dumayaca and other agency personnel.# (RDME)
