R-10’s DA, PRC, PSABE lead localized oath-taking; 192 new agricultural engineers sworn in
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10), through its Regional Agricultural Engineering Division (RAED) supported the Professional Regulation Commission – 10 (PRC-10) and the Philippine Society of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers – Region 10 (PSABE-10), in leading a localized oath-taking ceremony on February 28 for the December 2024 Agricultural and Biosystems Engineer Licensure Examination (ABELE) passers in Macasandig, here.
PSABE-10 President and DA-10 RAED chief, Engr. Deliza T. Camaro, emphasized the role of ABEs in local governance, as a critical link between policy and practice.
“PSABE-10 and DA-10 RAED serve as catalysts in fortifying the presence of agricultural and biosystems engineering within LGUs [in the region]”, said Camaro, in her message.
“Under the ABE Law, we ensure that technical expertise translates into tangible progress, fostering innovation and sustainability in our agricultural sector.” the DA official added.
With a national passing rate of 56.34% or 1,479 out of 2,625, 192 of these new ABEs from 14 state universities and colleges (SUCs) across the country convened to formalize their entry into the profession under the supervision of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
Engr. Caesar Joventino M. Tado, member of the Professional Regulatory Board – ABE, led the oath-taking, with the newly sworn in agricultural engineers vowing to uphold ethical standards and contribute to the advancement of agricultural engineering in the country.
DA-10 Regional Executive Director, Jose Apollo Y. Pacamalan, likewise challenged the new engineers to transcend academic achievements and embrace a results-driven work ethic.
“Wherever you work, find value in yourselves and [you] must understand, that in the real world, it’s not about your rating or grade, but about the attitude you bring to your work,” said Pacamalan.
“Deliver results beyond the norm, go beyond what is expected of you.” the agri exec chief furthered.
Among the SUCs that attended were passers from Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology – Bunawan, Bohol Island State University, Caraga State University, Cebu Technological University, Central Mindanao University, Davao del Sur State College, Jose Rizal Memorial State University, Mindanao State University, the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines, the University of Southeastern Philippines, the University of Southern Mindanao, the University of the Philippines – Los Baños, Western Mindanao State University, and Xavier University.
The localized oath-taking spared new passers from traveling to Metro Manila, reaffirming DA-10 and PSABE-10’s commitment to accessibility and professional development, especially for those residing in the Visayas and Mindanao.
Also gracing in the oath-taking were PSABE National President, Engr. Janice P. Vargas, PRC Region 10 Director Julie L. Sabalza, PSABE-10 Vice President Engr. Fidel M. Parian and board members, DA-10 officials, faculty members of the different SUCs, and parents and guardians. # (BJCE)
