DA-10 provides Guinsiliban town veggie seeds for the implementation of their HAPAG program. 

 

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – To help address food security concerns among communities, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) turned over a total of 150 packets of assorted vegetable seeds to the Local Government Unit of Guinsiliban, Camiguin on June 30, 2023, at the agency compound.

DA-10 Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado handed over the agricultural inputs, comprising 90 packets of 5-in-1 Pinakbet seeds and 60 packets of 5-in-1 Sinigang seeds to Guinsiliban Mayor Helenio N. Abecia.

According to RED Collado, the DA-10 supports the implementation of the HAPAG (Halina’t Magtanim ng Prutas at Gulay) program of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) that empowers barangays to reintroduce agriculture in urban communities.

Mayor Abecia said that the veggie seeds will be distributed to the seven barangays of Guinsiliban, of which purok presidents will be the ones to allocate the number of packets to the local farmers where each barangay already has a ready 200-square meter land area for production.

He added, the said initiative will also be of great help to farmers, not only towards achieving food security but also gain additional income, since the town has just recently opened its new public market.

Further, the provided agri assistance is funded under the High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) of the agency. # (DLVicente)

DA-10 turns over certificates of turnover and commitment worth P306-M of agri interventions to Lanao Norte province.

 

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) headed by its Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado supports the Agri-Aqua Livestock Trade Fair during the 64th Araw ng Lanao del Norte (LDN) celebration on June 29, 2023.

With the year’s theme, “Moving Forward Through Resilience, Unity, Peace, and Development”, the event offered a platform to highlight the unique agricultural and aquatic products that the province has to offer from the local farmers and fishers.

DA-10 Regional Technical Director for Operations Carlota S. Madriaga handed over the certificates of turnover and commitment to LDN Provincial Governor Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo, in the total amount of P306 million worth of agricultural interventions that could greatly aid and enhance productivity, uplift rural people from poverty, improve livelihoods, and increase farmers’ income.

The director said that the agency’s continuous partnership with the provinces helps to reach the self-sufficiency, food security, and nutritional security of Northern Mindanao.

Also, DA-10 has set up an information booth, distributing assorted vegetable seeds and IEC collaterals at the same time featuring audio-visual presentations to apprise the programs and services of the agency.

Further, said the affair was participated in by the different LDN municipal local government units (MLGUs) and other officials from the different national government agencies.# (MPMTablon)

DA-BPI nat’l director pays a visit to Agri-10, tackling mechanisms to boost crops prod’n for local demand, potential export

 

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Plant Industry (DA-BPI) Director Gerald Glenn F. Panganiban, PhD pays a visit to the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10) headed by Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado on June 26, 2023 at the agency compound here.

With its mission to ensure availability of quality seeds, safety of plant food, and development of crop farming technologies and safeguard the plant industry, Dir. Panganiban met with RED Collado, in the presence of Regional Technical Director Carlota S. Madriaga and Joel S. Rudinas, and DA-BPI Plant Quarantine Service OIC-Regional Manager Arnold S. dela Cruz, Jr.

This is to cascade plans from a national scope down to the regional level, in which the said bureau covers services such as seed certification, seed testing, plant nursery accreditation, plant tissue culture facility accreditation, application for crop and plant varieties protection, issuance of phytosanitary certificate, among others.

Concurrently serving as DA’s National High Value Crops Development and National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture programs, the body briefly discussed on the different mechanisms to augment the production of high valued crops in the region, such as avocado, durian and coffee, among others, thru strengthening the maintenance of nurseries by providing machineries and equipment, the adoption of tissue culture, and firming up laboratories, to address local demand and eventually, for export to other countries.

Further, Dir. Panganiban is in the city for the conduct of an entrance meeting to work out a private company’s export of Hass Avocado to Japan, with a 60-hectare production area in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.# (JLO)

Agri-10 supports PLGU MisOr’s Adopt-a-Barangay program thru the provision of assorted veggie seeds. 

 

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – To ensure food security among households in the province, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) headed by Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado, turned over a total of 50 packets of assorted vegetable seeds (pinakbet and chopsuey variants) to the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Misamis Oriental.

On June 27, 2023 at the agency compound, DA Field Operations Divisions chief Luz I. Guzman, PhD handed over the agri inputs to PLGU MisOr through Feljun Sumagang, public employment service officer.

Funded under the High Value Crops Development Program, the said provisions are in support to the province’s Adopt-a-Barangay program, specifically for distribution to the 200 households of Barangay Bata-awan of Gingoog City.

Sumagang said that the received seeds will aid the province’s thrust in transforming poor barangays, as they recognize that natural backyard gardening is a promising approach in having a continuous supply of fresh and nutritious vegetables.# (DLVicente)

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – To aid in the group’s food security efforts, the Department of Agriculture – Northern Mindanao (DA-10) recently turned over 60 packets of assorted vegetable seeds (pinakbet variant) to the Kamasugok, a group of local mountaineers from Impasug-ong, Bukidnon.

Conferring the provisions at the agency compound is DA-10 Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado to the representative of Kamasugok, Rona Grace Sahonlay.

According to Sahonlay, the handed over agri inputs will be distributed during the group’s spearheaded event dubbed as the 3rd Kamas Ta Kulago!

Agri-10 eyes to hand out FIMCs to rice farmers for cash assistance, among other agri interventions

 

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Universal Storefront Services, Corporation’s (USSC) Northern Mindanao Area Manager, William B. Parantar turned over to Department of Agriculture-RFO 10 Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado some 8,988 Farmers’ Interventions Monitoring Cards (FIMCs) on Tuesday, June 27, for distribution to bonafide rice farmers in the region.

The FIMC is an identification card that also serves as a cash card to be used in the rollout of DA’s financial assistance and other agricultural interventions.
The said cards will be issued to bonafide rice farmers in the region who are officially registered to the DA’s Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA), and eligible of DA’s Rice Farmers’ Financial Assistance (RFFA).

As provided under the Rice Tarrification Law (RTL), qualified rice farmers in the country shall receive P5K worth of financial subsidy from DA in the form of the RFFA until year 2024.

With the card at their possession, the RFFA shall be deposited directly to the rice farmers’ account and withdrawable in any USSC outlet or Automated Teller Machine (ATM) of any BancNet-recognized Philippine banks across the country.

“Thanks to our partners, the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) and the USSC, we were able to expedite and systematize our RFFA distribution in Northern Mindanao. At these trying times, it is always our priority to cascade government assistance to the farmers in the fastest possible way,” Dir. Collado remarked.

The DA-10 and the USSC target to distribute FIMCs to another 28K RFFA rice farmer-recipients in the region in the next quarter.

PRDP 10 conducts PRDP Scale-up InfoCar in Lanao Norte. 

 

Another batch of Municipal Local Government Units (MLGUs) have been prepped for the PRDP Scale-up as the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project 10 (DA-PRDP 10) holds an orientation for the recipients on June 20, 2023.

The MLGUs of Kauswagan, Kolambugan and Poona Piagapo of the said province were oriented on the updated guidelines and framework of the PRDP scale-up as well the documentary requirements for the sub-project (SP) proposals.

The aforementioned LGUs are eyeing to propose farm-to-market roads (FMRs) for their respective municipalities.#

 

Agri-10 provides DILG X veggie seeds for its HAPAG project.

 

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – To intensify the capacities of barangays through sustainable agriculture, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) headed by Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado, granted the Department of the Interior and Local Government Region X (DILG X) 50 packets of assorted vegetable (pinakbet, sinigang) seeds on June 16, 2023 at the agency compound, this city.

Funded under the High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP), said provision is in support of DILG X’s regional launching of the Halina’t Magtanim ng Prutas at Gulay (HAPAG) sa Barangay Project on June 19, 2023.

Said distribution aims to sustain the advocacy of said project and further promote active community participation and public awareness through the establishment of community gardens in barangays.

DA-10 participates in the PCUP Service Caravan 2023 in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. 

 

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – To provide better opportunities for more urban poor communities, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10) provided services and assistance during the Service Caravan in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon on June 22, 2023.

The event is spearheaded by the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP), which strives to improve urban poor populations’ awareness of PCUP programs and services and those provided by other government agencies and organizations and some private partner groups, as well as bring essential services closer to said group.

DA-10 headed by Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado, distributed packets of assorted vegetable seeds, featured audio-visual presentations to apprise the programs and services of the agency, and also conducted a Kadiwa fair, which gave consumers access to fresh, quality, and reasonably priced agri-fishery products from Bukidnon farmers.

One of the event recipients, Charlita T. Genton from Malaybalay City in Bukidnon, expressed her sincere gratitude for the activity.

With the agri department’s participation in the caravan, especially in its provision of seeds, she remarked that it can help households with their daily needs through backyard gardening while aiding in children’s nutrition.

“Ako nagpasalamat sa maong aktibidad kay pinaagi niining mga serbisyo nga ilang gihatag ilabina sa seeds, makatabang na kini sa matag-adlaw nga kinahanglanon sa panimalay pinaagi sa pagtanum niini ug makahatag og sustansya sa atong lawas ilabina alang sa mga bata,” Genton added.

Said activity was participated by different national government agencies (NGAs), the private sector, city local government units (LGUs) of Valencia and Malaybalay and the provincial LGU of Bukidnon.# (MPMTablon)

Agri-10 turns over hybrid corn seeds to the Office of Congressman Rodriguez for distribution to Oro farmers.

 

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — To increase farmers’ productivity and income, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) helmed by Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado, turned over P1.2 million (M) worth of hybrid yellow corn seeds to the Office of Congressman Rufus B. Rodriguez, 2nd district of Cagayan de Oro City on June 19, 2023.

Funded under the Corn Program, a total of 200 bags of corn seeds were turned over by the agri department through Executive Assistant III, Joel S. Rudinas to the Office of Congressman Rodriguez represented by Atty. Regine T. Rodriguez, chief of staff.

Atty. Rodriguez bared that the said provisions will be alloted to CdeO farmers from barangays Cugman and Tablon, which will be distributed on June 30, 2023. Each farmer is eyed to receive a bag of corn seeds.

According to Dir. Collado, DA-10 continues to provide high-yielding varieties of corn seeds, where each bag weighing 9 kilos can cover farmers’ half a hectare of land. # (DLVicente)
