DA-10 thru OIC-RED Collado signifies its support for the sustainable management of Macajalar Bay and CdeO river.

 

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Agriculture-Northern Mindanao helmed by OIC-Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado, the co-chair of the Cagayan de Oro River Basin Management Council (CDORBMC) manifests its support during the tripartite signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Wednesday, October 12, 2022.

The MOU provides the support and involvement of Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) in the Macajalar Bay Development Alliance (MBDA) and the CDORBMC in establishing a strong and viable link in the Provinces of Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon to boost investment in Green and Blue Economies.

Misamis Oriental Governor Peter M. Unabia and the MBDA chair emphasized that governance should be focused on next-generation, underscoring his advocacy for the preservation of the environment.

DA-10 Regional Technical Director for Operations Carlota S. Madriaga and the Co-Chair of CDORBMC as one of the witnesses of the signing of the MOU shared, “Our efforts will revitalize the environment which will provide food production, industry, and tourism, in restoring vital natural resources.”

All parties agreed to pool their respective and other mobilized resources to support the MBDA and CDORBMC project and programs for effective and sustainable management of the seascape-landscape continuum which all affect the entire contiguous bay and connected landscapes.

The CDORBMC is a multi-sectoral platform in environmental governance comprised of a diverse pool of Civil Society Organizations (CSO), national government agencies, LGUs, and the private sector.

The MBDA comprised the local chief executives of the member-LGUs of CdeO City, El Salvador City, Alubijid, Balingasag, Binuangan, Jasaan, Kinoguitan, Lagonglong, Laguindingan, Opol, Salay, Sugbongcogon, Tagoloan, Villanueva and the Province of Misamis Oriental. #(ATCabig, Photo: PLGU MOR)
