Agri-10 stages YFC start-up category regional judging
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10), through its Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), staged the Regional Level Judging for the Young Farmers Challenge (YFC) 2024 Start-Up Category on Wednesday, April 30, here.
The competition aims to identify and support young agripreneurs with promising agri-fishery business models across Northern Mindanao by providing them with the needed financial and technical support to launch or expand their enterprises.
Seven qualifiers vie for the regional competition after bagging the provincial tilt in two major categories:

*RTL Chicken Enterprise (Bukidnon)
*Solar Smart – Batoy Hydro Farm (Bukidnon)
*Carl’s Turkey Farm Alubijid (Misamis Oriental)
*Pinces Farm (Bukidnon)
*GL’SR Quail Farming (Magsaysay)
Processing Category
*LCO Food Products: Lutya Chips Production (Cagayan de Oro)
*2 A’s Lettuce Chips (Bukidnon)
The competitors were evaluated based on their entrepreneurial attributes, business viability, innovation, market potential, and social impact by a panel of experts from the DA-10 and its partner institutions.
Regional finalists will receive a financial grant of PhP150k as capital to implement or scale up their agri-fishery enterprises, and a chance to represent Region 10 at the YFC start-up category national-level competition.
National winner is set to receive an additional PhP300k in grant as the DA’s support for their enterprise’s operations.
This support is part of DA’s ongoing efforts to promote innovation and entrepreneurship among the youth in agriculture.
Through the YFC program, the DA-10 remains steadfast in empowering the next generation of agri-entrepreneurs in Northern Mindanao to strengthen the region’s food systems and contribute to rural development and economic growth. # (EJLG)
