NUPAP-10 trains PPA personnel in hydroponics farming
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10), through its National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program (NUPAP) conducted a Hydroponics Training for the personnel of the Philippine Ports Authority Port Management Office of Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro (PPA PMO MO/C) on July 22, this city.
Facilitated by NUPAP Alternate Focal Person Ronald Allan P. Camaddo and Project Evaluation Officer I Geonara C. Abejero, the training featured lectures and hands-on activity using the Kratky method, a technique in growing plants suspended above a reservoir of nutrient-rich water.
Participated by 60 PPA employees, the initiative aimed to impart the benefits of urban gardening, especially growing vegetables in small spaces and limited land access.
Beyond promoting sustainable food production practices, the activity also highlighted strengthened inter-agency collaboration in support to the government’s food security agenda.# (AMBM/Photo credits: PPA-PMO MO/C)
