Medina town farmers receive farm input subsidies from DA-10
Some 327 corn and rice farmers in the town of Medina, Misamis Oriental, are set to benefit from the agricultural input subsidies provided by the Department of Agriculture – Northern Mindanao (DA-10), through its Corn and Rice programs, with the turnover event on August 11.
To help cushion the impact of rising farm input costs, DA-10 turned over 300 bags of hybrid yellow corn seeds (NK 6410 VIP) and complete fertilizers–valued at PhP2.55-million–to the same number of corn farmers. Additionally, PhP63,355-worth of FDVs (ammonium sulfate and complete fertilizers) were allocated to 27 targeted rice farmers in the area.
This support aims to enhance crop yields and farm productivity, helping improve the local farmers’ livelihoods and incomes.
Eligible farmer-recipients are enrolled in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) and cultivate at least 0.5 hectares of corn area or at least 0.1 up to 10 hectares of rice area.
The initiative is implemented under the DA’s Yellow Corn Productivity Enhancement Project and Fertilizer Discount Voucher (FDV) Program, in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive of Para sa Masaganang Bagong Pilipinas, lobbying a food-secure Philippines and a bankable agriculture industry by expanding and improving available agricultural areas for increased production.# (JLO)
