Agri-10 backs City Health Office’s gardening initiative with tools, materials turnover

The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10), through its High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) ramps up its support to the City Health Office (CHO) of Cagayan de Oro in its drive to champion community gardening through the turnover of gardening tools and materials, today, August 11.

The DA-10 provided gloves, hand sprinklers, light hoes, and mini-shovels. This intervention adds to the 100 packets of vegetable seeds turned over by the agency on June 26 in support of the Nutrition Month’s kickoff celebration.

According to Aprel Fe C. Susaya, Nutrition Officer II of the CHO Nutrition Division, this intervention will directly benefit the recipients of the 100 seed packets.

Through this inter-agency collaboration, the DA-10 and the CHO continue to promote urban and peri-urban agriculture initiatives citywide, aiming to enhance food security, health, and nutrition in local communities.# (BJCE)
