DA-NorMin hands over checks amounting to a total of P17.1-M to local officials of MisOr and CdeO on behalf of the hog raisers affected by ASF.

 

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) turns over P17.1 million indemnity checks to the local officials of Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro City on behalf of the hog raisers affected by the African Swine Fever (ASF) on June 23, 2021.

The ceremonial check turnover was headed by DA Assistant Secretary for Agribusiness and Marketing Kristine Y. Evangelista along with DA-RFO 10 Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado and Regional Technical Director for Operations Carlota S. Madriaga.

Receiving the said checks were Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Vincente B. Emano worth P6.290-M for 343 affected hog raisers and Cagayan de Oro City Councilor and Committee Chair on Agriculture Jay Roa Pascual and Councilor Girlie Balaba worth P10.810 million for 637 affected hog raisers. # (AMBManto)

MANOLO FORTICH, BUKIDNON – The 52nd Engineer Brigade, Philippine Army has forged an Inter-Local Agency Partnership (ILAP) with the DA, TESDA, DENR in Northern Mindanao in support of EO 70 or institutionalizing a whole-of-nation approach to end local communist armed conflicts.

On Tuesday, June 22, the signing of ILAP brings together the commitment for a strengthened regional effort to provide more efficient public services.

BGen Rommel R Hinlo, Commander, 52nd Engineer Brigade, PA signed the partnership with the Department of Agriculture -10 Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-10) Regional Director Arleigh J. Adorable, and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Bukidnon Provincial Director Engr. Loel B. Mañigo.

The ILAP reinforces the existing partnership among the agencies and fosters an era of progress and peace in the country.

BGen Hinlo shared, “We become partners in future undertakings especially on training, skills exposure, technologies, and knowledge that we can obtain.”

He added, the collaboration between government agencies is more than cooperating with other teams which involve shared vision, mutual respect and in-depth understanding of each other’s role with a goal of achieving excellent results and high-value effects for their organizations and communities.

Dir. Collado said, “DA continues to work with the Philippine Army in our efforts to contribute peace and security through a robust agricultural development.”

Collado added, that DA-10 continues to converge with national government agencies and other partners to come up with a concrete and sustainable enterprise in the area.

DA-RFO 10 funded thru its Enhanced Kadiwa program turns over 1 unit refrigerated van to LGU Lantapan.

 

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Funded under the Bayanihan II, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) releases one unit refrigerated van worth P4.28 million to the local government of Lantapan, Bukidnon at the agency compound, here in the city on June 18.

DA-RFO 10 Regional Executive Director (RED) Carlene C. Collado also graced the town’s ‘Araw ng Lantapan’ for its formal turnover, which served as one of the highlights of the event on June 19.

Also packaged with the unit are the 40 pieces plastic crate and a push cart.

Neptali C. Ambos, the municipal agriculturist (MA) explained, that the refrigerated van is targeted to mainly transport fruit and vegetable products of the Lantapan Vegetable Farmers Marketing Cooperative, the municipality’s largest and active farmer’s group.

Ambos added, that said vehicle is beneficial to Lantapan being one of the major producers of vegetables in Bukidnon province, as it prolongs the shelf life of products; thereby minimizing postharvest losses.

“On behalf of Lantapan Mayor Ernie R. Devibar, I would like to extend our deepest gratitude to DA-10, especially to RED Collado for this assistance, which is very significant for our vegetable farmer-entrepreneurs. In return, we will take good care of the unit and maximize its use so that more farmers can benefit from it,” Ambos expressed.

DA-10 headed by RED Collado turns over P1.263-M worth of agri inputs to CdeO farmers thru the Office of Congressman Rodriguez.

 

The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) through its Corn and High Value Crops Development programs (HVCDP) turned over P1.263 million (M) worth of agricultural inputs to the Office of Congressman Rufus R. Rodriguez, 2nd district of Cagayan de Oro on June 17.

Two hundred fifty bags of hybrid yellow corn seeds amounting to P1.250-M and P13,000 worth of vegetable seeds (pinakbet and sinigang variants) were included in the roster of turned over interventions.

Said assistance is intended to boost agricultural development, particularly for the corn areas of said district.

Leading the turnover was Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado, Consultant Joel S. Rudinas, Corn Program Focal Person Richan D. Lacanaria and HVCDP Focal Person Kersten S. SMFI supports DA-10’s fight vs ASF thru the provision of 8 gallons of disinfectant, which was received by the agency’s key officials.

 

Cagayan de Oro City, June 17 – The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) received 8 gallons of disinfectant from San Miguel Foods, Inc. (SMFI) in support to its fight against the African Swine Fever (ASF).

Produced by SMFI, Protect Plus (Glutaraldehyde plus Quaternary ammonium compounds) is a multi-purpose disinfectant found to be effective as bactericidal, virucidal and fungicidal, which inhibits the growth of mold and mildews.

According to SMFI Livestock Health Specialist Maria Katerina E. Barbarona, each gallon can be mixed with 200 gallons of water to formulate a disinfectant solution of an application of 300 milliliters per square meter.

Hereafter, DA-RFO 10 Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado handed over the disinfectants to Misamis Oriental (MisOr) Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Benjamin S. Resma.

Dr. Resma said, it will be used in the province’s entry points, especially in the eastern part of MisOr from Tagoloan to Magsaysay, which remain as green zones or free from ASF.

He noted, that the province currently has a total of 6 affected towns and 1 city or 43 barangays from Opol to Lugait.

Citing this, Resma explained, that the ASF surveillance team from the provincial veterinary office will maximize the use of said provisions to sanitize areas they will be visiting.

Two newly appointed and one promoted employees of the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) took oath before Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado on June 10 at the agency compound, here in the city of Cagayan de Oro.

The following are the employees and their designated posts:

On June 9 , around 1,089 motorcab drivers/operators from Maramag town benefit from DA’s Community Pantry.

 

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, June 9 – To provide food access, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 conducted a Community Pantry at Barangay South Poblacion, Maramag, Bukidnon.

Summing up to 1,089 motorcab drivers/operators from select barangays in the municipality have benefitted from the provided farm fresh agri-products such as rice, vegetables, root crops and 450 packets of 5-in-1 pinakbet vegetable seeds.

Setting up community pantries is one among DA’s initiatives to easen the effects, especially those badly hit by the pandemic.

During the activity, enrollment of farmers and fishers were simultaneously done to be part of the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA).

Leading the activity was DA Assistant Secretary for Agribusiness and Marketing Kristine Y. Evangelista together with the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), DA-10 Provincial Operations Head for Bukidnon Dr. Janet D. Lopez representing Carlene C. DA-10’s Reg’l. Livestock and Research Prod’n Building situated in Dalwangan, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon serves as infra support to strengthen the agency’s livestock research and production project implementation.

 

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The P4.5 million two-storey Regional Livestock and Research Production Building of the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 is now ready for livestock research and production activities.

Said building has a floor area of 200-square meters located at DA-10’s Malaybalay Stock Farm in Dalwangan, Malaybalay City in Bukidnon.

DA-10 Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado noted, that the facility will serve as a support infrastructure to strengthen the capacity of DA-10 on livestock research and production project implementation.

He added, it will ensure quality service to the farmers and other clients of the livestock industry in the region and other areas in Mindanao.

DA-10 Livestock Program Coordinator Maria Lourdes M. Sypiecco shared, the structure will serve as a modernized landmark with advance technologies, as an output of the various livestock related researches which include the Philippine native animal development; breeder maintenance and distribution program; forage apiculture development, among others.# (Photo credits: NMACLRC)

DA’s Nat’l. Livestock Program sets aside P4.5-M for the upgrading of poultry nucleus farms in R-10 to boost free range prod’n in DA-10’s research stations for distribution to qualified recipients.

 

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The National Livestock Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA) has allotted a total of P4.5 million for the upgrading of the poultry nucleus farms in Region 10 under the Bayanihan Act II Program.

The fund was utilized through the Regional Livestock Program to procure additional Free Range Chicken stocks, feeds, various drugs and biologics and the construction of Free Range Chicken Poultry House in DA’s research stations: Research Center for Upland Development (RCUD) in Dangcagan, Bukidnon and the Northern Mindanao Agricultural Crops and Livestock Research Complex (NMACLRC) in Dalwangan, Malaybalay City in Bukidnon.

“The project aims to produce more free range chicken in the Region to be distributed to the qualified recipients which include the local government units (LGUs), farmer associations or academe as their source of livelihood or income-generating project,” said DA-Regional Field Office 10 Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado.

Meanwhile, a total of 716 modules or 4,296 heads (1 male:5 female per module) and feeds will also be distributed under the program for the provinces of Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental and Misamis Oriental which are intended for COVID-19 affected households as validated by the Regional Livestock Program and the Provincial Local Government.

Said project is also funded under Bayanihan II which aims to provide livelihood to validated recipients.

DA-10 Livestock Program Coordinator Ma. Lourdes M. Sypiecco shared, those who are interested to avail the said program may approach their respective Municipal/City Agriculture/Veterinary Office to assist them with the process or directly contact the Livestock Program of DA-10.

All intents will be subjected for a thorough validation with the Regional Technical staff and LGU representatives.#

 

The Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office 10, through the Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo (4Ks) Program, conducted a Community Needs Assessment (CNA) to the Higaonon tribe of Mintapod in Hagpa, Impasug-ong Bukidnon on May 24-27, 2021.

DA-10 4k Focal Person April Grace M. Racines said that the four-day activity aims to identify the appropriate projects that the community need through Community-Based Participatory Action Research.

“We will be gathering data directly from our beneficiaries through a series of activities in order to gauge what interventions can be given to them and identify what are the available resources in their area. We also tapped the help of Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA) because a lot of women in Mintapod are weavers of abaca fiber.”

In his message, Datu Benny D. Cumatang, Impasug-ong Indigenous People Mandatory Representative (IPMR), emphasized that the government also hears the requests of those situated in far-flung areas.

“As someone who is from Mintapod, I always hear complains about the government not reaching our areas and focuses only to those who are easy to access. Now, we are being visited by DA because they want to give projects in our community. I would like to request for everyone’s cooperation and have an open mind with the ideas and interventions being presented because this is what they think can help us. Soon, we will achieve peace and development.”

After the said activity, a written report containing the findings will then be submitted to DA-10 Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado for further action.

4Ks is a three year special project of the DA where it provides assistance to the Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICC) and Indigenous Peoples (IP) in the form of agricultural and fisheries related livelihood opportunities. It aims to capacitate the IPs through community organizing, agricultural skills training and workshops to increase knowledge and productivity.
