DA-10 eases agri-transport, turns over hauling truck to Binuangan town

MISAMIS ORIENTAL – Farmers’ cooperative, associations (FCAs) in Binuangan town are set to benefit from eased agri-transport, as the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10) ramps up its support through a turnover of a hauling truck.

The local government unit (LGU) of the said town received one unit of a PhP2.57-million hauling truck, during a turnover ceremony held at the municipal grounds, on July 9.

Funded under the agency’s Corn Program, the transport truck is poised to improve FCAs’ overall farming logistical operations.

Binuangan municipal agriculturist Charise C. Mamaat stressed the truck’s role in curbing operational costs for labor and transport.

“With this truck, I believe farmers will be able to increase their income,” the agri official said, noting that most corn farms in the municipality are located in upland areas.

Meanwhile, DA-10 Provincial Operations Center chief for Misamis Oriental, Wilson V. Lagdamin echoed, “We [from the DA] hope that this truck will be maximized for the development of the community.”

Binuangan’s local government vowed to ensure the hauling truck fulfills its purpose of supporting farmers, further committing to provide an operator upon farmer groups’ vehicle request.

Town-based FCAs may coordinate with the Municipal Agriculture Office of Binuangan for the availment of trucking services.

As one of the soon-to-avail farmers’ coop from the intervention, the Kitamban Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative, through its Manager Josephine T. Amao, conveyed her optimism that their coop will soon receive similar support.

“Manghinaot ‘mi puhon nga ang amoa na gyung kooperatiba ang makadawat,” the farmer-leader said.

(We hope that a hauling truck will be granted to our coop someday.)

Following this turnover, the DA-10 is set to cede one hauling truck each to the municipalities of Cabanglasan and Kalilangan in Bukidnon, this July 10 and 11, respectively.

Earlier, the DA-10 also turned over similar hauling trucks to Baungon, Bukidnon, on July 4 and to Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte, on July 7.

This initiative aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s national agenda to streamline the delivery of agricultural products through enhanced farm-to-market logistical support, with the DA at the forefront. # (BJCE)
