Issued to him at the Regional Crop Protection Center of the agency at Bangcud, Malaybalay City, the foodlane pass will allow his group to fast track the delivery of their fresh produce from their production areas to their target drop-off centers/markets amid quarantine checkpoints set forth by different local governments.#

Operations in the Regional Crop Protection Center, one of DA-10’s research stations located in Bangcud, Malaybalay City continues as its provides biological control agents such as Metarhizium and Lacewing for farmers’ use in the prevention of plant pests.

In the presence of DA-10 OIC-RED Collado, these were handed over to the agricultural extension workers of Talakag, Bukidnon. #

Lumbia, CdeO, April 4 – Fresh vegetables and fruits and other food products are sold in DA’s ‘Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita’ here in Grand Europa, this city.

The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) thru OIC-Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado has been coordinating with farmer-associations to bring their produce to the market.

In which, the Miarayon Highland Farmers Association of Talakag, Bukidnon supplied the fresh vegetables for this Kadiwa project.

DA-10’s move is in response to Agriculture Secretary William D. Dar’s directive to keep food sufficient in light with the COVID-19 crisis.

The agri chief also ensures that farmers can market their produce while at the same time, providing the consumers with affordable, safe and nutritious food.

Meanwhile, DA-10 Regional Technical Director for Operations Carlota S. Madriaga assured the public that Northern Mindanao has enough food supply.

She is also encouraging the local government units to buy farmers’ produce for inclusion in their food pack distribution for their constituents.

Jocelyn Kwong, a resident of the area said, “We’re glad DA has come up with this program to lessen our worries going outside to buy food. The vegetables are fresh and very affordable.”

The ‘Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita’ is a program of the agency thru the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) in coordination with the City Agriculture Office of CdeO and barangay Lumbia.# (ATCabig)

The heads of DA regional offices in Mindanao report their respective measures undertaken to ensure food security amid the COVID-19 outbreak, in a videconference meeting presided by DA USec. Ampatuan, who’s also the Western Mindanao Cluster head for regions 9, 12 and BARMM.

To ensure availability of food in light of the COVID-19 crisis, Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 reports on its food security measures during a video conference meeting with DA Mindanao regions today, April 2, 2020.

Said meeting was presided by DA Undersecretary for Regulations Zamzamin L. Ampatuan, who is at the same time the head of the Western Mindanao Cluster for regions 9, 12 and BARMM.

The meeting was attended by DA regional offices heads in Mindanao along with Undersecretary for High Value Crops and Rural Credit Evelyn G. Laviña and the Eastern Mindanao cluster head for regions 10, 11 and 13 with Assistant Secretary for BARMM Abdula E. Sailila.

OIC-Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado reported that Region 10 is self-sufficient on rice and vegetables.

He also noted that provincial government offices have already started buying palay directly from farmers at a higher price compared to traders.

On price monitoring, he shared that local price coordinating councils have been activated and the implementation and monitoring of prize freeze on basic agri-fishery commodities.

Further, he cited that in Cagayan de Oro City, traders who set prices beyond the Standard Retail Price were apprehended in coordination with the Criminal Investigation Detection Group (CIDG-10).

Meanwhile, Regional Technical Director for Operations Carlota S. Madriaga reported that the region has started collaborating with the local governments in mobilizing its ‘Kadiwa on Wheels,’ of which the agency provided logistics support on the delivery of vegetables to markets and food terminals.#

Kahapunan, Valencia City, April 1, 2020 – Fifteen seed companies throughout the country showcased various hybrid rice varieties in the 10th National Rice Technology Forum (NRTF) of the DA, Rice Board in partnership with PhilRice and the local government of Valencia City.

Launched on December 5, 2019, the NRTF is an initiative of DA with an aim to promote the latest technologies in rice production, especially on hybrid rice developed by the government and the private sectors.

Three months after its launching, the City Agriculture Office of Valencia City started its crop cutting and data gathering activities to determine the projected yield and the characteristics of each rice variety planted in the 100-hectare demo farm.

The NRTF is one of the strategies of the Department of Agriculture (DA) to attain rice sufficiency through the adoption of hybrid rice technology.

DA-Regional Field Office 10 Regional Executive Director Carlene C. Collado, said that such activity allows local farmers to identify which rice variety best suits their area, which in turn, will augment their productivity and income.

In Region 10, RD Collado emphasized also the farm mechanization component to effectively make farming more efficient and reduce postharvest losses.

The use of farm machineries include combine harvester, mechanical transplanter – riding type, drone seeder, direct seeder – riding type and the walk-behind transplanter.#

Due to community quarantine, social distancing and work-from-home arrangements to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, the agriculture department has opt to meet through a teleconference meeting on March 31, 2020.

Presided by DA chief William D. Dar, the meeting tackled on agri-fishery updates and concerns such as the monitoring of food supply and provision of financial assistance to farmers, among others.

To enable families to attain food security in the different households of the province amid the current health outbreak, Department of Agriculture – Northern Mindanao continues the distribution of vegetable seeds (300 packets), amounting to Php52,000.00 to the Provincial Agriculture’s Office of Misamis Oriental.

Such initiative is in support to the agency’s overall pending request of Php31-billion approval of the Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat (ALPAS) Kontra sa COVID-19, which is at the moment, already approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases and for consideration and approval by President Duterte.

Of which, will expedite the provision of assistance to farmers and fisherfolk as well as the public, in general, to help escalate the food adequacy level of the country during this period of emergency health crisis. #
