DA-10 F2C2 conducts training on coop fundamentals, good governance for FCAs

 

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-10), through its Farm and Fisheries Clustering and Consolidation (F2C2), conducted a training workshop dubbed as Fundamentals of Cooperative and Good Governance for the farmer cooperatives, associations (FCAs) in the region from July 10 to 11, in this city.

The activity aims to improve the performance of FCA clusters by promoting stability, productivity, and adherence to good governance and transparency practices that benefit all members.

In a separate interview, DA-10 F2C2 focal person Gay Nanette R. Aleria said that the training aims to equip FCAs learn and obtain a sound vision on the fundamentals of cooperative and good governance management which is beneficial for them to attain long-term success and cluster growth.

“Through this training, we aim to strengthen and empower cluster leaders by guiding them in helping their FCAs address common challenges. This includes assisting them in complying with documentary requirements, resolving inspection findings, and fixing other issues that may affect their operations.” Aleria added.

To further support and empower FCAs, the DA-F2C2 10 invited resource speakers from the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), led by Senior Cooperative Development Specialist Edwin B. Pelosas, who shared their expertise on cooperative development and sustainability.

This initiative marks the first in a series of trainings conducted geared toward empowering FCAs across the region. # (CRS)
