CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10) awarded certificates of accreditation to Silverbay Producers Cooperative (SPC) and Inhandig Tribal Multipurpose Cooperative, recognizing them as Civil Society Organizations (CSO) earlier today, August 6, at the agency compound, this city.

DA-10 Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulations, Cora A. Dumayaca, along with Lana May S. Racines, Head of the Regional Technical Secretariat (RTS) for CSO accreditation, and RTS member Ferdinand F. Caraballe, presented the certifications.

Under DA Administrative Circular No. 3, Series of 2022, CSOs are considered active partners of the DA in delivering agricultural services and implementing its programs and projects.

Ma. Luisa Tumang, Project Coordinator for SPC, expressed her gratitude for the accreditation saying, “This accreditation will help us materialize our plans to assist the marginalized sector,” emphasizing the cooperative’s commitment in creating livelihood opportunities through Bangus value-adding activities, particularly in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental.

Meanwhile, ITMPC General Manager Merly O. Suday shared similar sentiments, noting that the accreditation will directly benefit the cooperative’s 157 members based in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, who are primarily engaged in farming coffee, abaca, bananas, and corn.

With these accreditations, the agency eyes that it will improve both cooperatives’ operations to better support their respective communities. # (AMBM)
