DA-NorMin spearheads interagency Halal industry dev’t confab

 

Iligan City – To mobilize priority projects pipelined under the Halal Program, the DA-Region 10 (DA-NorMin) recently spearheaded the Northern Mindanao Halal Council Technical Working Group (TWG) coordination meeting.

In said gathering, the Department of Trade and Industry Provincial Director for Lanao del Norte, Jane Marie L. Tabucan, presented the region’s Halal Road Map outlining strategic directions and key action areas for the development and strengthening of the Halal industry in the region.

DA-NorMin Lanao del Norte Provincial Operations Center Chief and Halal Program Focal Person, Engr. Abdulharis P. Paporo, conveyed the budgetary allocation and status of Halal projects pipelined by the agency in 2025.

Apart from capacity building for Halal food production and processing, this year the DA-NorMin has proposed the construction of Halal slaughterhouse and dressing plant in Iligan City and Munai town in Lanao del Norte, respectively.

Said projects gained locals officials’ support in boosting production of Halal-certified agricultural and food products to foster inclusive economic empowerment in Muslim-Christian communities.

To lay down streamlined advocacies for policy, investment promotion, capability building program, certification and accreditation, and Halal market development, the Northern Mindanao Regional Halal Framework 2025–2028 was adopted by the Regional Development Council (RDC) through Resolution No. 64, series of 2025.# (ATT/Photo Credits: POC LDN)
